Terms and site use

Terms of Service

Terms for using Home Resilience Hub articles, calculators, checklists, and website services.

Last updated July 21, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you use the Home Resilience Hub website (the “site”). Home Resilience Hub publishes the site and is referred to below as “we,” “us,” or “our.” If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the site.

What the site provides

Home Resilience Hub publishes educational articles, planning checklists, browser-based calculators, a local household-planning workspace, search, contact, and an optional newsletter sign-up.

The site’s affiliate, sponsored-content, product-review, and advertising seller features are not active today. A brand inquiry or external product link does not create a partnership, endorsement, or paid relationship.

We may add, revise, suspend, or remove content and features. We do not promise that every page or feature will remain available at all times.

Planning information, not professional or emergency advice

The site provides general educational information. It is not emergency monitoring, emergency dispatch, or individualized medical, legal, financial, engineering, electrical, plumbing, structural, food-safety, water-treatment, security, or other professional advice.

Conditions vary by household, building, equipment, health needs, jurisdiction, weather, utility, and current official instructions. Before acting on safety-critical information:

  • follow current alerts, evacuation orders, codes, and instructions from the relevant local authority;
  • confirm product limits and installation requirements in the exact current manual;
  • use an appropriately qualified professional where the work, law, or risk requires one; and
  • contact the appropriate emergency service for an immediate threat.

Calculator and checklist limits

Calculator results are planning estimates based on the values and assumptions shown. They cannot inspect your equipment, wiring, fuel, water source, food condition, building, route, medical needs, or local rules. They do not certify readiness, code compliance, compatibility, safe installation, or product performance.

Check your inputs, units, assumptions, manufacturer documentation, and local conditions before relying on a result. Share links can contain the planning selections needed to recreate a calculation; anyone with the link may be able to read those selections.

Local browser data

The My Household Plan, persistent checklists, and some interface preferences can store data in your browser’s local storage. That information may be lost if you clear site data, use another browser or device, or the browser removes local storage. We do not promise backup, synchronization, recovery, or long-term availability. Avoid entering confidential information.

Product and external information

Product specifications, manuals, availability, prices, subscriptions, rebates, laws, and linked pages can change. Unless a page publishes a specific test method and evidence, it does not claim that our team completed hands-on or long-term testing.

Links to government agencies, manufacturers, standards organizations, utilities, retailers, and other third parties are provided for context or continued research. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, policies, products, or services. A link alone is not an endorsement or commercial relationship.

Acceptable use

You may use the site only lawfully and in a way that does not harm the site or other people. You must not:

  • attempt to bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities, introduce malicious code, or disrupt the site;
  • use the contact or newsletter forms for spam, fraud, harassment, or unlawful material;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent an affiliation;
  • collect personal information from the site in violation of law; or
  • reproduce or exploit substantial site content in a way that infringes intellectual-property rights.

Reasonable indexing by ordinary search engines and accessibility tools is not prohibited by this section.

Unless a page states otherwise, original site text, design, calculations, and branding are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party names, marks, images, and quoted material remain the property of their respective owners.

You may view, print, or save pages for personal, household, educational, and other uses allowed by law. You may link to the site and quote limited excerpts with clear attribution. Permission may be required to republish substantial material, remove attribution, create a commercial derivative, or present our work as your own.

Messages and feedback

You retain any rights you have in material you send through the contact form. You give us permission to receive, review, store, and use the message as reasonably needed to respond, investigate a correction, protect the site, or improve the relevant guidance. Do not send material you are not authorized to share or information that must remain confidential.

Submitting an idea does not require us to publish it, compensate you, enter an agreement, or keep an unsolicited business proposal confidential.

No warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that content is complete, error-free, current for every location, suitable for a particular household, or continuously available. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Home Resilience Hub will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the site or a linked third-party service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Our Cookie Policy explains essential preference cookies, optional analytics consent, and local browser storage. You can change optional cookie choices through Cookie preferences in the footer.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the site, law, or business practices change. The date above identifies the current published version. Changes apply when posted, subject to any notice or consent required by applicable law. Material changes do not retroactively create a commercial relationship or transfer rights in an earlier message.

Severability and applicable law

If part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue to apply. Applicable law and the courts or dispute process with authority over a matter govern without overriding any mandatory consumer right.

Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact page or to [email protected]. Do not use these channels for an emergency.
